How did you start paddling?
I took a job at a small outdoor store in Green Bay while I was in college. The staff there were enthusiastic sea kayakers, and got me out on the water right away.
What boats do you paddle?
P&H Capella 163, P&H Bahiya, Pyranha M:3, Pyranha S:6
What countries and oceans have you paddled in?
I have paddled in the UK in north Wales, in the Aleutain Islands of Alaska (USA) and on Lakes Superior and Michigan.
What is your favorite paddling destination?
It is hard to beat Holyhead in Wales for fantastic tide races and day trips.
Where do you work?
Lots of places. I work at Rutabaga--a kayak store in Madison, spend my summers working as a stucco mason, and teaching kayaking skills. I also write freelance articles for Sea Kayaker magazine, and work as a tech-rep for outdoor equipment companies. And, I'm in grad school at the University of Wisconsin.
What meal do you cook the best?
Pizza and Quesadillas--I am the master of cheese and cheese melting.
What other sports do you do?
I dont like sports where things come at me really fast, which pretty much limits me to boating and watching Kelly Blades drink Margaritas.

BCU Level 3 Coach (Sea), Wilderness First Responder
